Pilot Iroshizuku Ink Old Man Winter (Fuyu-syogun) 50ml takes its name from the cold front that sweeps across Japan in the depths of winter, and the colour is exactly that: a cool, composed blue-grey that carries the stillness of a frozen morning. It sits comfortably between blue and grey without committing fully to either, making it a versatile everyday ink with considerably more character than a standard grey.
Fuyu-syogun shades moderately on quality paper, the blue and grey tones separating gently at the edges of each stroke. Like the rest of the Iroshizuku range it is well-behaved in the nib: consistent flow, clean starts, and no staining.
