Meet The Laywine's Team
Peter Laywine
Founder
Peter opened Laywine’s in 1987 and has been championing fountain pens, notebooks, and all things analogue ever since. He’s the person people turn to when they want to find the right pen—or when they’re not quite sure what they’re looking for. He believes that good tools make everyday writing a little more enjoyable, and that there’s always room for another ink colour. These days he’s in the shop a little less, but his love of great pens—and great jazz—still shapes everything we do.
Gareth Story
Managing Director
Gareth joined Laywine's in 2011 and has been in and out of the business for the past 10 years. He now lives in London, UK, and is responsible for sourcing many of the European products in store. He's passionate about design and well-made objects. Although he refuses to admit he has a collection, he has quite a number of lovely writing instruments.
Emma
Operations Manager
Emma joined Laywine’s in 2022 after completing her Master’s in Museum Studies. A dedicated note-taker with a growing collection of notebooks, she’s tried more than a few—and can help you find the right one for how you write. Naturally, she believes every great note starts with a good pen.
Frank
Sales Associate
A lifelong fountain pen enthusiast and avid collector, Frank brings warmth, wisdom, and decades of experience to Laywine’s. He’s our second-longest serving team member—and a go-to for all questions pen-related.

Pablo joined Laywine’s in 2024 and quickly became a favourite with customers thanks to his warm, friendly approach. He’s always ready to help you find the right pen, the right paper—or just the right excuse to treat yourself.

Ryan joined Laywine’s in 2024, bringing with him a love of fashion, design, and well-crafted objects. His appreciation for quality materials and thoughtful accessories makes him a perfect match for the curated tools we carry.

Nic has been with Laywine's since 2015, though most of the time these days he's working as a photographer, creating beautiful and inspired shots for us and other design-led brands.

Abla joined Laywine’s in 2025, bringing with her a lifelong passion for all thingsstationery. A devoted journaler since childhood, she loves helping others find the perfect planner or notebook, and she’s always delighted to chat about pens, paper, and every shade of ink in between.
