Pilot Iroshizuku Ink Crimson Glory Vine (Yama-budo) 50ml takes its name from a wild mountain grape that grows across Japan's highland forests, and the ink earns the reference. It's a rich, complex red with a distinct purple undertone: not quite burgundy, not quite magenta, but something with more depth than either. On absorbent paper it shades noticeably, shifting from a saturated crimson at the stroke's edge to a softer, almost rose-like tone where the ink pools and dries.
Like every ink in the Iroshizuku range, Yama-budo is well-mannered in the nib: good flow, clean starts, and no staining, making it as practical as it is characterful. It arrives in Pilot's signature flat-bottomed glass bottle, weighted and recessed at the base so you can fill from the very last drop.
