Carl Auböck Rocket Bookends
The Carl Auböck Rocket Bookends are a pair in solid brass, cast from Carl Auböck II’s original mid-century mould, and heavy enough to hold a row of books upright. Their streamlined shape shows the optimism of the era; Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus, kept Auböck pieces on his own desk.
Each bookend is cast, finished and polished by hand in the family workshop in Vienna, and stamped with the Werkstätte Carl Auböck signature. Small marks and slight irregularities are part of that process, so each one differs a little. Each measures 8.3 x 5.7 x 11.9 cm.
Why we love it
"These exquisite bookends are a stylish addition to any desk, office, or home. Cast and polished by hand by a fourth-generation family business located in the 7th district of Vienna. Their beautiful designs in brass somehow manage to be both timeless and modern and they're a brand I've admired for some time, so I'm genuinely excited to be including them in our offering at Laywine's."
