Carl Auböck Fountain Pen Rest
The Carl Auböck Fountain Pen Rest brings mid-century elegance to the writing desk. Its sleek, sculptural form originates from a mould designed by Carl Auböck II in 1948, and each piece is still cast in brass and hand-worked by new generations of the Auböck family in their century-old Vienna atelier. The surface is finished using the workshop’s traditional chemical patination process, which produces the deep brown-black tone characteristic of their patinated brass objects—an effect that mirrors the richness of decades of natural ageing. The gentle concave shape offers a quiet, intentional place to rest a treasured fountain pen, combining utility with contemplative design.
- Solid brass fountain pen rest based on a 1948 Carl Auböck II design
- Dark brown-black patina created through the workshop’s chemical ageing process
- Concave form designed to cradle a single pen securely
- Hand-filed and hand-finished in the Carl Auböck workshop
- Made in Austria
Please note: Each Carl Auböck piece is individually cast and finished by hand. Subtle variations—such as small marks or slight irregularities—are part of the workshop’s traditional process and contribute to the character of the object.
