Carl Auböck Earlobe Bookends
The Carl Auböck Earlobe Bookends are sculptural brass objects first conceived by Carl Auböck II in 1948 and still produced today in the family’s historic Vienna workshop. Cast from the original positive mould and finished entirely by hand, each bookend reveals the atelier’s unmistakable craftsmanship: the outer and inner edges are carefully filed and patinated to a deep brown-black tone, while the flat faces are polished to a warm golden sheen. The resulting interplay of form and finish gives the pair a presence that is both organic and unmistakably modern, characteristic of Auböck’s mid-century design language.
- Solid brass bookends cast from Carl Auböck II’s 1948 original mould
- Hand-filed edges with rich patination contrasted by polished flat faces
- Designed and made in the historic Werkstätte Carl Auböck in Vienna
- Each piece stamped with the workshop’s signature
- Dimensions: 12 × 10 × 5.5 cm
- Made in Austria
Please note: Each Carl Auböck piece is individually cast and finished by hand. Subtle variations—such as small marks or slight irregularities—are part of the workshop’s traditional process and contribute to the character of the object.
