Pelikan Souverän M600 Art Collection Georg Tippel Fountain Pen draws from Pelikan’s early visual heritage, reinterpreting a historic 1899 advertising poster by Georg Tippel as a contemporary writing instrument. Part of the Pelikan Art Collection, this edition continues a tradition that began at the turn of the 20th century, when Pelikan actively engaged artists to shape its visual identity—bridging art, commerce, and craftsmanship in a way that still defines the brand today.

At the centre of this edition is Tippel’s “Grundfarben” motif, created for Pelikan’s first poster competition in 1898–99. The original artwork presents the pelican as a nurturing figure, a symbol historically associated with care, responsibility, and continuity—values that remain closely tied to Pelikan’s identity. Rather than reproducing the image directly, the design isolates and reinterprets a subtle detail: the flowing cloud formations from the sky, translated into an abstract, rhythmic pattern across the barrel.

Crafted using Pelikan’s Aurora process, the decorative sleeve features finely engraved guilloché structures beneath multiple layers of translucent lacquer. This construction creates a sense of depth and movement, with the surface shifting as it catches the light. Semi-transparent warm brown resin components frame the motif, bringing balance to the composition while connecting the historical artwork to the clarity of the Souverän form.
